Guarantees are offered based on correct installation, finishing and maintenance procedures. Guarantees may be withdrawn where appropriate in instances where correct procedures have not been followed.
Doors must be fitted in an appropriate location. For coastal or areas where high wind load/wind driven rain are expected, Accoya should be fitted. In adverse locations, solid timber doors can degrade at an accelerated rate. this is not a manufacturing defect. Oak doors should always be fitted under a porch or canopy that prevents regular exposure to rain. Where this is not possible then Accoya should always be specified and fitted.
Solid oak doors that are supplied unfinished are not covered under our guarantee.
Even with thorough finishing, timber doors can often require minor planing in the first couple of seasons. You should always follow a good maintenance programme with solid exterior doors, refinishing them as necessary.
All doors should be washed down a minimum of twice a year with a mild solution of soapy water and rinsed off with clean water to remove any surface debris. This should be increased to a minimum four times a year in coastal/ high wind load environments.
Once cleaned the door and frame should be carefully inspected. It is vital that any areas where the finish has been damaged are repaired as they are found, at least annually. Once repaired, the door should be refinished.
