Solid white oak skirting boards sold in generous 3.2m lengths (approx. 10’6″ for those who prefer imperial measurements). We offer these boards in a choice of 2 heights 115mm (ex 5″ timber) and 142mm (ex 6″ timber). The three most popular designs are all available, chamfer, bullnose (or sometimes called pencil round) and torus. Each board is double moulded with a profile on each side, you can put your preferred profile to the front.
We manufacture these skirting boards at our Sheffield factory. We take a prime grade European oak and machine it to a quality finish. Unlike many other supplier we do not simply mould the boards and leave them in the full length. Each board is trimmed to 3.2m. This means we can cut out any end split that many raw material boards come with. This means you can use the full 3.2m length which reduces wastage.
It is not possible to buy oak in the fixed lengths that we supply the skirting in. To get around this we start with lengths of oak at around 1.0 – 1.5 metres long, and fingerjoint these together to get the correct overall length needed.
Skirting is made from a selected grade of white oak. Most of the board will be clear with the occasional knot to highlight the solid oak nature of the architrave.
On occasion we may also fingerjoint lengths where it is not possible to buy the correct length raw material. This does not affect the strength of the oak and helps us to maintain the best possible prices.
Standard and Custom Sizes
Skirting is available in 2 heights, 115mm (ex 5") and 142mm (ex 6"). Boards are machined to a thickness of 20mm
Oak skirting is supplied machined to a smooth surface finish and supplied bare ready for you to prefinish on site. When oak is machined you can sometimes get slight lifting of the grain in small areas, particlarly where the grain varies such as around knots. This can be easily sanded smooth prior to applying a finish and is normal for this timber.
Oak skirting boards will normally be delivered to you with a specialist parcel courier due to their length. Typically we use overnight couriers for this product to allow us to agree a day of delivery with the customer
