Sawn Oak Timber Specification

Our rustic European white oak timber is graded to a European QF2/3x specification. As a rustic grade of timber, the boards will contain some knots and minor splits. There may also be some sapwood and other rustic features such as occasional pinholes and end shakes. We sell/price the timber as a 2.0m length although in practice we will often ship a slightly longer board which gives you the option to trim back to a nice square 2m length.

All of our timber is PEFC registered and kiln dried to a low moisture content to ensure it can be used inside the home without warping and bowing easily.

Uses

The timber can be used in its rough form and can make for a wonderfully rustic look for a joinery project.  However please be aware the lengths will have some minor bending and twisting in their full size. All boards are kilned dried to approximately 12-14% moisture content and are therefore ideally suited to internal use. They can be used outside but some expansion should be expected as the boards re-acclimatise to around 18% moisture content.

Stock

These boards are one of our main raw materials for our door factory, and we usually have thousands of boards in stock.  If you wish to collect from us then we will be happy to load using a forklift into your transport.  The oak weighs around 700kg per m3 so be sure to bring appropriate transport!

Sawn Oak Source

All of our oak sawn boards are bought direct from sawmills in Europe, mostly in France.  We personally visit every sawmill to ensure we are buying a good grade of oak that has been correctly processed.  All of the oak passed through our PEFC due diligence system so that you can be sure the timber is correctly sourced from an environmental perspective.

Sawn Oak Timber Sizing

Choose between the following widths:

• 160mm
• 180mm

All sawn oak boards are 27mm thick and come in random lengths between 2m-2.2m.  Note we are selling the boards as 2.0m lengths so you may find small end splits in the longer boards which would be trimmed off when you cut to 2.0m

These boards are also offered as moulded lengths, which is rough sawn oak which has been machined through our moulder in our Sheffield site. The timber is machined to a smooth finish and tidied up before being put into stock in our warehouse. The moulded timber is available in various different widths suited for a spectrum of uses inside the home. We recommend this is used internally.

Sawn Oak Timber Delivery

Our sales team will contact you as soon as your sawn oak is ready to arrange a delivery date that is most suitable with yourself. We use DX delivery to deliver all of our large items, or The Pallet Network for larger orders.

Our transit time is 1-2 working days and each product is sufficiently packaged by our efficient warehouse team.

We ask that all deliveries are checked for damage, missing items or any problems within 24 hours of receipt. This will ensure our team can deal with the problem as quick and effectively as possible.
