Pine Ledged Doors: Manufacturing

We fit our pine ledged doors with decorative glass panels handmade in the UK. Each panel is assembled using real lead strips, which are hand applied then soldered and aged for a fabulous tactile finish. The center section of each panel features a sandblasted section to give some visual barrier whilst still allowing light to flood through

The glass is securely fixed into your new door with security tape and pine glass beading. Depending on the width of the door you choose we will fit the appropriate width panel. All of the panels are 510mm high and manufactured using toughened safety glass.

Pine Ledged Doors: Options

Heritage can manufacture and supply your new Buttermere pine ledged doors in a range of sizes and timber grades. Simply pick the size you need from the drop-down box, or if you need a custom size, choose the appropriate option then let us know the exact measurements. Your new door is available with either Bead & Butt or V Grooved profile boards. You can choose which you prefer from the drop-down boxes when ordering.

Pine Ledged Door Timber

All of our glazed pine ledged doors are handmade in our factory in Sheffield. Heritage deal direct with sawmills in Southern Normandy, Loire Valley, and Bourgogne areas of France to ensure we get beautiful quality pine at good prices. We ensure that all of our pine is correctly seasoned and kiln-dried for use inside the home.

We hand make every door and check the quality prior to despatch. Our specialist staff glue, pin and then hydraulically press the ledges on to ensure a proper fit. This process is unique to Heritage. This technique makes our door by far the strongest and most durable available in the UK.

Pine Ledged Door Delivery

Our sales team will contact you as soon as your order is ready to arrange a delivery date that is most suitable with yourself. We use DX Delivery to deliver all of our large items including our pine ledged doors, or The Pallet Network for larger orders with multiple doors.

Our transit time is 1-2 working days and each product is sufficiently packaged by our efficient warehouse team.

We ask that all deliveries are checked for damage, missing items or any problems within 24 hours of receipt. This will ensure our team can deal with the problem as quick and effectively as possible.

Timber Grades

All Heritage pine ledged doors are manufactured using Scandinavian Vths redwood. Timber is sourced from northern Swedish and Finnish mills, typically in the northern 3rd of the Gulf of Bothnia. This ensures that we are only using pine from these colder northern regions which makes for a slower grown, denser timber with smaller knots. This helps to keep the door more stable in use.

We also manufacture the door with 20mm thick verticals. Most cheaper doors on the market use 15mm thick verticals. Again this helps add to the robust nature of the door.

All the doors are made to a standard 40mm thick.

We can also make these oak doors in custom sizes should you require this service. Once you have select either oversized or undersized on the drop down option, you can give us the sizes you require in the basket.

Note: We'll make oversized doors for the quoted price up to a maximum size of 2100 x 950. If you need something even larger than that, please give our sales team a call and we'll quote accordingly

Options

Hardware

We also offer our own superb ironmongery sets, made in hand forged steel and available in either an antiqued beeswax or a pewter finish.

Each kit contains 2 x 18" (450mm) strap hinges, specially designed with strengthened hinge assemblies to take the weight of solid oak doors without sagging. The kit also contains a substantial thumblatch complete with locking pin. Finally a set of matching screws is also supplied.

With each ironmongery set we will also supply a 20mm thick solid oak lock block. This is useful in some installations where you need to install the thumblatch flush with the ledges.

Bracing Pack

Selecting a bracing pack adds the diagonal braces to your door. In the past these were necessary to stop the door from sagging over time, but with modern manufacturing techniques this is no longer the case. Braces are now purely an aesthetic choice.

Braces are available as either a loose bracing pack for you to fit yourself, or we can install them for you. If you elect for us to install them you can let us know which orientation you would like them fitted in, left side or right side to the top*.

* We'll default to fit the braces right side to the top unless you tell us otherwise

Finishing

We can also pre-finish your door for you if you prefer. If you select this option, we will apply the finish of your choice from our wide range. All of our finishes use a hardwax oil top coat, which creates a wonderful subtle finish to the oak whilst protecting the timber. We can finish your new Ledged door in a Traditional Clear hardwax oil or you can choose from one of our colour tones.

Please note that a prefinished door is considered a customised door and cannot be returned. If you are unsure about the finish you prefer then we recommend ordering a sample or ordering your door unfinished for on-site finishing.Please note - to fit into our spray facility, the door is hung onto an overhead track meaning the door will contain two small screw holes on the side of the door. Please be aware of this before ordering.
