Description

This internal oak stable door is manufactured at our Sheffield factory. Heritage manufacture these doors using beautiful quality white oak imported from France. They are available in either rustic or prime grades. We can manufacture to 4 standard sizes. However, if you need it we can make the door to a size to suit you. We also offer the option to team the door with beautiful ironmongery in either a beeswax or pewter finish.

Internal Oak Stable Door: Grades

The grades available are Select Rustic and Prime Grade. Each one is dependent on knots and character. Prime is our highest quality grade, with minimal thumb-size knots. Select rustic is a good ‘in-between’ option! The specification is available to view under ‘Timber Grades’ which will take you through what is allowed in each grade

Internal Oak Stable Door: Manufacture

All of our doors are handmade in our factory in Sheffield using predominantly French oak. Heritage deal direct with sawmills in Southern Normandy, Loire Valley and Bourgogne areas of France. This ensures we get beautiful quality oak at good prices. We also make sure that all of our oak is correctly seasoned and kiln dried for use inside the home.

We hand make every door and check the quality prior to despatch. Our specialist staff glue, pin and then hydraulically press the ledges on to ensure a proper fit. This process is unique to Heritage and makes our door by far the strongest and most durable available in the UK.

Internal Oak Stable Door: Profiles

V Grooved doors tend to give a subtle and clean look to the door. They work particularly well in period cottages or barn conversions. Bead & Butt profile adds some extra detail and would often have been used in larger properties reflecting the additional work that would have gone into making them at that time. There is no price difference between each profile, as our moulding machine can manufacture either profile within the same timeframe. The choice is entirely based on looks only!

Internal Oak Stable Door: Hardware

We also offer door hardware kits to suit the stable structure, with 4 x 18″ strap hinges and a latch set. We also have a range of shoot bolts that enables you to lock the two halves together.

Internal Oak Stable Door: Delivery

Our sales team will contact you as soon as your order is ready to arrange a delivery date that is most suitable with yourself. We use DX Delivery to deliver all of our large items and door products, or The Pallet Network for larger orders with multiple doors.

Our transit time is 1-2 working days and each product is sufficiently packaged by our efficient warehouse team.

We ask that all deliveries are checked for damage, missing items or any problems within 24 hours of receipt. This will ensure our team can deal with the problem as quick and effectively as possible.

Prime V Groove doors are manufactured using prime oak veneers over a jointed oak core. The face of the boards will be virtually clear with only the very occasional small knot visible. The edges of the door are solid oak and will show joints between sections of the oak core. Prime oak doors are made with veneer to keep costs practical and to ensure the best grade of oak is visible on each face of the door.

All the doors are made to a standard 40mm thick.

Custom Sizes

We can also make these oak doors in custom sizes should you require this service. Once you have select either oversized or undersized on the drop down option, you can give us the sizes you require in the basket.

Custom Undersize - Doors under 2'9'' x 6'6'' in BOTH dimensions

Custom Oversize - Doors over 2'9'' x 6'6'' in EITHER dimension (maximum 950 x 2100mm)

Options

Hardware

We also offer our own superb ironmongery sets, made in hand forged steel and available in either an antiqued beeswax or a pewter finish.

Each kit contains 4 x 18" (450mm) strap hinges, specially designed with strengthened hinge assemblies to take the weight of solid oak doors without sagging. The kit also contains a substantial thumblatch complete with locking pin. Finally a set of matching screws is also supplied.

Bracing Pack

Selecting a bracing pack adds the diagonal braces to your door. In the past these were necessary to stop the door from sagging over time, but with modern manufacturing techniques this is no longer the case. Braces are now purely an aesthetic choice.

Braces are available as either a loose bracing pack for you to fit yourself, or we can install them for you. If you elect for us to install them you can let us know which orientation you would like them fitted in, left side or right side to the top.*

Glass Opening

We can also manufacture your door with a glazing opening. Selecting this option will mean we let in an opening to the door, and supply the door with oak glazing bead. We do not supply the glass.

If you would like a particular size glass opening then please let us know, otherwise we will make the opening to the full width of the inner boards

Note we will fit the braces right side to the top unless you tell us otherwise

Finishing

We can also pre-finish your door for you if you prefer. If you select this option, we will apply the finish of your choice from our wide range. All of our finishes use a hardwax oil top coat, which creates a wonderful subtle finish to the oak whilst protecting the timber. We can finish your new Ledged door in a Traditional Clear hardwax oil or you can choose from one of our colour tones.

Please note that a prefinished door is considered a customised door and cannot be returned. If you are unsure about the finish you prefer then we recommend ordering a sample or ordering your door unfinished for on-site finishing.Please note - to fit into our spray facility, the door is hung onto an overhead track meaning the door will contain two small screw holes on the side of the door. Please be aware of this before ordering.
