Oak Timber (or PSE) is a great product for use in various construction projects. Therefore, we have taken a good grade of European oak and machined it to a smooth and straight finish. Each piece is selected to ensure that it is an appropriate grade. Most of the board will be clear, some boards will exhibit the occasional knot (its simply not possible for us to buy raw material with no knots!)
Heritage manufactures all of our oak timber/PSE at our Sheffield factory. We keep large stocks of PSE so we can normally ship to you very quickly or you can collect from our warehouse if you prefer. It is not possible to buy oak in the fixed lengths that we supply the door linings in. To get around this we start with lengths of oak at around 1.0 – 1.5 meters long and finger-joint these together to get the correct overall length needed.
20mm thick Oak PSE (Planed Square Edged) timber available in a range of widths, in set lengths of 8ft/2.4m. Also, widths ranging from 40 – 205mm wide, all the PSE is 20mm thick.
- 40mm x 20mm x 2400mm
- 65mm x 20mm x 2400mm
- 90mm x 20mm x 2400mm
- 115mm x 20mm x 2400mm
- 140mm x 20mm x 2400mm
- 165mm x 20mm x 2400mm
- 185mm x 20mm x 2400mm
- 205mm x 20mm x 2400mm
Each piece of PSE is made from a selected grade of French oak. Most of the board will be clear with the occasional knot to highlight the solid oak nature of the PSE.
It is not possible to buy oak in the fixed lengths that we supply the door linings in. To get around this we start with lengths of oak at around 1.0 - 1.5 metres long, and fingerjoint these together to get the correct overall length needed.. This does not affect the strength of the oak and helps us to maintain the best possible prices. This will tend to be more prevalent in the wider boards where it can be very hard to otherwise source the right lengths. We do not edge glue the oak , from side to side it is a single solid piece of oak
Oak PSE is supplied machined to a smooth surface finish and supplied bare ready for you to prefinish on site.
When oak is machined you can sometimes get slight lifting of the grain in small areas, particularly where the grain varies such as around knots. This can be easily sanded smooth prior to applying a finish and is normal for this timber.
