Description
Most newer homes are fitted with softwood or MDF stairs, and the cost and mess involved in replacing them can be offputting.
Heritage oak stair cladding offers you a simple cost effective solution. By retaining your existing stairs, and bonding new oak treads and risers over the top, converting your staircase to solid oak becomes an easy weekend DIY job and better yet the cost is usually a fraction that of a new oak staircase.
This pack is designed to clad a bullnose opening step. The pack will clad any bullnose step up to 1150mm wide, 285mm deep and up to 200mm high.
Pack contents:
2 piece tread, 14mm solid oak with T&G jointing, curved to one end
Oak riser moulding kit; 2 x straight sections, 1 x curved section
Oak veneered curved riser board
Timber Grades
Stair cladding is designed to fit stairs with straight treads up to 1000mm wide when measured between the strings.
Tread depths (know as the "go" of the tread) of up to 285mm can be accommodated
Step heights (know as the "rise" of the step) of up to 200mm can be accommodated
All of these dimensions are well above what is normal for UK stairs. A typical UK staircase will have a width of around 840mm between treads, a rise of around 180mm and a going of around 220mm.
Standard and Custom Sizes
Stair cladding is designed to fit stairs with straight treads up to 1000mm wide when measured between the strings. Bullnose steps are typically up to 100mm wider. The bullnose kit will fit bullnose steps up to around 1185mm wide
Tread depths (know as the "go" of the tread) of up to 285mm can be accommodated
Step heights (know as the "rise" of the step) of up to 200mm can be accommodated
All of these dimensions are well above what is normal for UK stairs.
Note: the bullnose kit is designed for single bullnose steps. These are steps with a single curved end. Steps with curved on either end are occasionally found, and these can be clad but will require 2 kits, and a string veneer. Please call for further details.
The kit is not designed to fit a "curtail" step. These are rare steps where the curved end runs through 180 degrees, not the 90 degrees of a bullnose step. A bullnose step can be seen in the main (first) product image on this page
Finishing
Oak stair cladding is supplied unfinished to allow you to match into your existing decor. We can supply finishes from our flooring finishing range if desired.
Delivery
If bought in isolation, this tread would ship with a parcel courier. If purchased as part of a full staircase order then this will normally be shipped on a pallet.
The pallet carrier specifies the delivery as "kerbside" meaning they will unload from the truck only. You will need to be on hand to help move the goods indoors. Individual treads are easy to carry once the pallet is unpacked.
