Stop chamfer newel posts are a good cost effective way to replace your existing stair balustrade. The newels are machined to a generous 90mm x 90mm square and are sold in the most common 1500mm length. We offer both pine flat and pyramid newel caps to suit these posts and our chrome Scala caps fit perfectly also.
Newels are available in both full and half format. The full 90mm square version is the standard line used in most places on a staircase. The newel is also offered as a half version which is used where the balustrading ends against a wall, typically at the end of the landing.
These newel posts are manuactured by us at our Sheffield factory from joinery grade kilnd dried Scandinavian pine. They are correctly made by laminating 2 sections together to give a strong, stable newel post.
These newels are manufactured using a good quality grade of pine to give you a nice quality post. There will be live knots within the posts and the occasional black knot
Posts are manufactured from 2 sections that we carefully laminate togther. This is a much stronger construction than posts made from a single piece of pine, and is much more resistant to warping or cracking
You can choose from the following options;
Full newel - for use in most standard areas on the stairs
Half newel - for use where the balustrade needs to finish against the wal
The sizes are as follows: -
Full newel post - 90mm x 90mm x 1500mm
Half newel post - 90mm x 43mm x 1500mm
Pine newels are supplied machined to a smooth surface finish and supplied bare ready for you to prefinish on site.
If you are planning to paint the newel, then an appropriate knotting solution should be used first to prevent resin from the knots bleeding through the paint
Pine newels will normally be delivered to you with a specialist parcel courier.
Typically we use overnight couriers for this product to allow us to agree a day of delivery with the customer
