Pewter Door Hardware Set: Which Doors Are They Used For?

These hand-forged pewter ironmongery sets are perfect for our oak, pine or painted ledged doors and contain everything you will need to complete your door installation. We recommend 2 18″ hinges per door, fitted to the top and bottom ledge of each. Stable doors commonly have 4 hinges (1 per ledge, 2 per leaf), single hinges can be purchased here.

Suffolk Latch and T hinge packs are an amazing choice for solid timber ledge doors as they are heavy duty, and can cope with the heavy weights of oak doors in particular. The sets are also in an ‘antique’ style and suit the look of the cottage style ledged doors.

Pewter Door Hardware Set: Specification

The pewter door hardware set is hand forged in a heavy grade of steel. Next, it is aged and then finished in a hammered pewter finish.  All of the components in the set are substantial and add a real touch of class to your door.

All of the items in the kit have been designed to our specification.  We have upgraded them from what we found was available “off the shelf”.

Hinges

The hinges are specifically designed to cope with the weight of our solid oak doors. Rather than the normal single barrel construction, we upgraded the hinges to a twin barrel design.  The result is an immensely strong hinge that will not sag over time even under the weight of oak doors.

Suffolk Latch

The thumb latch was increased in size and weight so that it was an appropriate quality.  We supply The latch with both a keep for the door frame as well as a locking pin to provide a simple locking function for bathroom or bedroom doors for example.

You will find all of the screws needed to fit the set included, in a matching beeswax slotted dome head in a good thick screw gauge. We believe that these are the best quality hand forged kits for ledged doors on the market today.
