Framed ledged and braced stable doors are a great way to allow you to seperate an area of the house without shutting it off completely. Each leaf of the door is a full mortice and tenon frame for a superb quality long lasting door.
Doors are manufactured in a select grade of oak. Most boards will be clear, with the occasional small knot emphasising the solid oak construction of these doors. All of our Oak is specially kiln dried to 8-10% for use indoors.
We laminate 2 solid sections of oak for the frames, which are then hydraulically press assembled on state of the art machinery to ensure a strong long lasting door, with good stability provided by the 2 part laminated frame. Framed & ledged stable doors are available in either a bead & butt option or a V Grooved profile.
You can add different options to your door, such as a glass opening or a bracing pack to add in diagonal braces. Please see the options tab for more information

All the doors are made to a standard 40mm thickness. Both upper and lower frames are laminated from two 20mm sections. We complete this lamination process in house so that we have total control of quality. Laminating the frames in this way, whilst time consuming, creates a much stronger door that is much more resistant to warping. The central boards are pinned in place and are 20mm thick tongue and grooved for exceptional strength
We can also pre-finish your door for you if you prefer. If you select this option, we will hand apply the finish of your choice from our wide range. All of our finishes use a hardwax oil top coat, which creates a wonderful subtle finish to the oak whilst protecting the timber. We can finish your new Framed Ledged door in a Traditional Clear hardwax oil or you can choose from one of our Shades finish or Aged oak finishes.
Please note that a prefinished door is considered a customised door and cannot be returned. If you are unsure about the finish you prefer then we recommend ordering a sample or ordering your door unfinished for on site finishing.
If you select this option we will prefinish your new door in a clear hardwax satin oil. These modern finishes are manufactured using a mixture of natural oils and waxes and help to bring out the natural beauty of the oak
The Heritage shades range uses the latest finishes and techniques to create a variety of colours and styles to suit every home. Shades takes the natural beauty and variation of oak and tailors it to a number of highly individual styles so that there is a choice that will match whatever decor and look you are creating with your home project.
The Heritage Aged range use special stains that react with the tannins, this process can be prompted to happen straight away. We combine these reactive stains in a multi stage finishing process with various coloruing and highlighting effects before adding a top coat of hardwax oil and the results are truly stunning.
