FD30 Custom Mexicano Fire Door
Oak doors are hugely popular choices for contemporary homes. Until now custom sized and shaped fire doors have been a real problem, taking up to 28 weeks to arrive from the Far East. Heritage manufactures custom size and shaped FD30 fire doors right here in our factory in the UK in a few weeks. We are the only company in the UK manufacturing custom Mexicano oak fire doors. Also available as an FD30S Mexicano fire door
This style of door is known in the UK by various names depending on the supplier, including such names as Suffolk, Belize, Cottage or Ely.
Custom Doors – Made in the UK
Until now all oak fire doors have been manufactured in the far east and therefore if you needed a custom size then these had to be ordered specially. They take a minimum of 18-22 weeks to arrive, and regularly much longer. We regularly hear of these orders then arriving with issues, with any replacement another 22 weeks away!
Heritage has built a CNC production facility in Sheffield especially to manufacture popular fire door styles in custom sizes in the UK. This means that we can offer these doors in significantly less time, and you know you are dealing directly with a UK manufacturer.

FD30 Custom Mexicano Fire Door: Custom vs Standard
We aim to keep our service offer simple yet effective, therefore these doors are offered at a fixed price whatever size you need. Custom size doors can be manufactured in any size up to a maximum of 2150 x 930 for this price (please call us if you need a larger size). This way you do not have to wait for a quote, simply order your door then let us know the size you need. With help on finding the door size you need, check out our instructions on how to measure up

Custom Sizes
Our custom made options are made by us in the UK in 4-6 weeks.
- Let us know your size up to a maximum of 930 x 2150. Larger sizes are available, please call for pricing
- Doors can also be manufactured to angled top for ceiling line and understairs cupboards. Please note, there must be a minimum 250mm flat to the top of the door for it to perform correctly as a fire door. Full angled doors cannot pass as they would need to be trimmed back to clear the lining during hinging.
- 10mm oak effect hardwood lippings on top and sides
- Grooves can be a maximum of 7mm wide x 7mm deep for oak lined grooves
- Grooves can be a maximum of 7mm wide x 3mm deep for unlined grooves
- Supplied with FD30 certification with the core tested by Warrington Fire to BS476: part 22: 1987
- Manufactured to the appropriate Field of Application specifications and a copy of this can be supplied on request
- Labelled with permanent FD30 labels which should not be removed.

Installation
The custom mexicano fire door is supplied with installation instructions and the custom mexicano fire door must be installed in accordance with these in order to maintain its FD30/FD30S rating. If you prefer, please enquire about our new FD30 ledged doorsets which are supplied complete with frame, hinges and lock to the appropriate standards.

Timber Grades
This door is made using a prime grade oak veneer over a fire rated core. The door is lipped with 10mm KSK hardwood which is a good visual match to oak and is suited to fire doors.
Solid oak inserts are optional inside the grooves or you can opt for a more cost effective unlined groove in which case you will see a contrasting paler timber inside the groove.
The core is FD30 rated and tested by Warrington Fire to the appropriate standards. Optionally the door can be specified as an FD30S variant, which will come with a drop down smoke seal fitted to the underside of the door. For FD30S door installation you must select intumescent strips with brush smoke seals. Finishing
Choose to receive your door either unfinished or opt for our pre-finishing service. You can select from clear, light, medium or dark oak.We will spray your door with 2 coats of a super tough matt clear finish, with your door carefully sanded between coats. Each coat will be infrared cured in a drying tunnel. The result is a superb finish that is much better than can be achieved by brush finish and will more closely match other prefinished doors you may already have.
You can also buy these doors unfinished. They can be treated with either water or solvent based finishes but care should always be taken to not saturate the door when applying the first coat of any finish.
This can cause the veneer to lift as the saturated veneer swells and breaks the glue bond, forming a ‘bubble’ in the veneer. Should this happen, its best to first leave the door to dry out for 2-3 weeks as the bubble will usually disappear as the veneer dries and shrinks back.
If bubbles remain the sitation can be resolved by puncturing the bubble, squeezing a small amount of PVA glue into the cavity and with the door lying flat, leave a weighted block on the bubble over a plastic sheet so the block doesn’t stick. This will flatten back the bubble which can then be sanded and refinished once the glue has set.
